Creating a Niche
Our disturbance set Y must in some way be compatable with X,Z
All X,Z disturbances create a disturbance pathway from yi to y0
This can be expressed (yi....y0).
Compatable might be defined as y0 in a reasonable time
Reasonable might be defined as a period sufficient to allow y0 before another X,Z input.
Resistance to a further input could be created by (yi...y0) in transition but may be incompatable with survival.
This invites a niche defintion.
A niche is a subset of (X+Z) which allows a rapid equilibrium.
This definition contrasts with necessary inputs to survival, which may correlate with inefficient pathways.
